Speech Contest

　My theme is “ history”. Many people totally know this word and meaning but this word has many meanings and we can choice one meaning for a context of a sentence. Today’s meaning of history is my history. There are two necessary words in talking in the content that I speak. That’s “process” and “magic”. From now I talk about the process that lead me to stand here.

　This year I changed. No, it’s not true if I say that exactly. My history was changed and renewed. Of course, the criminal who did that is my girlfriend. When I was sophomore in spring semester, I didn’t like studying English. So I couldn’t write long sentences with English and be good at speaking fluently. Moreover, I couldn’t listen to many words that were spoken by native speakers and teachers. I was a lump of the frustration at that time. Also over and over again I used to think to drop out of this school. I ended up stopping to study English, and there were the times when I spent days to giving my soul to music. Back then my life was in despair. But in such a case, I met Yukino who is my girlfriend. Looking back now, if I didn’t meet her, I wouldn’t be standing on here and making a speech. I thought that I must study more to be able to see a figure of someone who is studying English hard, like Yukino.

　For something completely different, would I make progress in English more than before by using what kind of magic? The magic is to watch many movies in English. It is very easy for us. I made that I watched a movie happily to be one-study method. I watched a movie with Japanese subtitles, moreover I watched with English, too. When I did this method, I am always careful to listen to English. And I watch the favorite movie repeatedly many times and keep it in mind to learn the phrases. From summer to now I am keeping this method. Owing to this method, I was able to talk with Koreans who could speak English when I went to Korea. I continue this method and it is one aim of mine to live with various people in the United States. 

　In conclusion, I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me was that she always supports me. I want to say the words of thanks on this occasion. Thank you very mach. And finally, I want to end this speech by the words of my favorite Steve jobs. “You can’t connect the dots looking forwards: you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. Thank you for listening!
