BR2-14 Alaskan ice climbing

The hike across Matanuska is beautiful, but it can also be very unsafe. (p.15)

There’s only one thing that’s certain about the weather in Alaska. It is snow and rainy, wind and so on. Alaska has many glaciers. Many people try to climb the glaciers. A number of people want to ski down the glaciers but the weather has other plans. They want to get to the glacier to ski so they go there with some guiders. The glacier is not often comfortable weather. However, guiders tell climber about the glacier’s weather for warning and being dangerous,

Colby Coombs and Caitlin Palmer are both experienced mountain guides. They run a climbing school. They teach beginner climbers to reach the top of Denali. Denali is a mountain that is also known as Mount McKinley. It is one of the highest mountains in North America. Anyway, Colby and Caitlin are both very good climbers. If it was bad weather, you usually have to factor in a day or two to put up with when you plan to climb.

Matanuska is a very big glacier. It is 27 miles long and two miles wide. It formed 2,000 years ago. Surprisingly, it is always moving and changing. Also it is very difficult to climb. The climbers have to prepare for being difficult to climb. Therefore, they have to use some tool to climb and save one. Alaska is home to large number of glaciers about 100,000 in total. Now many people enjoy climbing the glacier.

BR2-13 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

‘Mirror, mirror on the wall…. Who’s the most beautiful woman in the world?’ (p,2)

Snow White’s mother died when she was a little baby. She lived happily with her father in the castle. However, one day a woman came to the castle for marrying her father. The woman’s name is Bella. Then Snow White said ‘That’s wonderful!’ Snow White thought that being together was happy back then. Snow White’s new mother was very beautiful, but she was not kind. Bella never played with Snow White. Sometimes Snow White is alone in her room. Bella looked into her magic mirror ever evening and said ‘Mirror, mirror, on the wall… who’s the most beautiful woman in the world?’ ‘You are,’ the mirror always replied.
One day mirror’s answer changed. Snow White is more beautiful than you! Queen Bella was so angry and Bella contrived some things to kill Snow White. Queen Bella asked to a man to kill Snow White and he went into a forest with her, but he could not kill her. And Snow White was alone in the forest so he went back the castle, and she slept on the forest’s ground.
Later, Snow White met some dwarfs and black witch gave an apple Show White. Snow White was Sleeping princess, you know. This story is one of the most famous tales in the world. I love this. Also I watched “Snow White” in movie some time ago. The work was very interesting, too!

BR2-12 California

But 150 years ago it was just a land of deserts and mountains. (p.1)

Americans call California ‘The Golden State’. It was true because many people looked for gold and silver in the mountains. Now California was the great cities and come to see the big park and the beautiful desert. In addition, California has Disneyland. Texas and Alaska are bigger than California. Moreover, California has Hollywood which is an American film business. A lot of Japanese do not know about being famous business that it is also computers and wines in California. I don’t know about this, too. California’s climate is long dry summer and wet winters.

What’s the gold rush?? I understood for reading this book. America made California an American state 1850. One day a man saw something bright and yellow in a river and he discovered small pieces of gold in 1848. On March 15, a San Francisco newspaper told the story of this discovery. The news travelled across many places, and a lot of people came to California soon from Australia, France, Britain, Germany, China, Mexico, Peru and Hawaii. Many American joined the long journey to California for looking for gold. If you get gold, you would absolutely become rich because gold has the wonderful worthy. They were often called ‘Forty-niners’, because most of them arrived in 1849. This year was the start of the Gold Rush.

BR2-11 HARRY and the Lady next Door

He did not love the lady next door.(p9)

I read this book and it’s so funny and happy- story. A number of people knew this title-name. “Harry” was a white dog with black spots. He liked his neighbors but one. Harry dislike she sang in next door because her voice was very high and loud. It’s pretty noise!! His ears always hurt. The Peanut whistle had to put his hands over his ears because her voice was really noise. Moreover, she sang louder than the siren on the fire engine. This was bad. Harry tried everything to make her stop. He howled under her window. However, he couldn’t make her stop. One day Harry’s family gave a party. They invited the lady next door. He interrupted for biting the leg of the piano but the family sent Harry out of the room. However, he didn’t give up and harry pushed the door open the wind blew in. It blew the pages of music off the piano. They blew all around the room. Everyone tried to catch the scores but they could not. The scores blew out the door and into the garden. They did not bring all the scores back. He could interrupt her!!
You know Harry and it is very interesting book. This reading-level was easy so you could read easily!! This book published Japanese version. I forgot the day. This book is my recommendation.

BR2-10 GOVERNMENT IN AUSTRALIA

Parliament is the body that is made up of all the representatives who are successful at the election. (P,7)

Do you know about government in Australia? I don’t know many things. Government makes decisions about the way people live. Government decides many things about what people can and cannot do. Also government decides about how a country, state or community. Assembly man was chosen by election and people. It is very important to vote for them. Assembly man is the body of parliament. I often think.

Australian’s system of government is known as a federal system. I learned about this. Australia was controlled by UK before. So the system is a federal system. Australia was subject to many influences from UK. Australia government was formed in Melbourne in 1901. Australia’s government has two houses. It’s a lower and an upper house. The lower house is named the House of Representatives. The House of Representatives has many seats than upper house. On the other hand, the upper house is named the Senate. The role of the Senate explains about the introduced in the House of Representatives.

BR2-9 Brad Pitt

When Brad smiled, people remembered his face. (p5)

Where did Brad Pitt come from? He was born in Oklahoma December18, 1963. His family moved to Springfield, Missouri, when Brad was a baby. He did not think about wanting to be an actor in child. Many people loved him and were interested in him. Brad was interested in everything; music, sports, theater, writing, and girl. He was intelligent teenagers at Kickapoo High School. His future looked good, but not very exciting. He sought “exciting”. When he sang and danced, he did not wear his shirts or jeans. Many girls loved his figure with shirts. Moreover, many girls followed his everywhere.
How were his college days? He went to the University of Missouri. His father gave an old car to Brad as a present. Brad drove the 240 kilometers to the university in September 1982. He was very good college student. On evening, he and some friends were in his old car. They had an accident. In a stroke of good fortune, they were alive.  After the accident, he thought about his future. Finally He walked out. He wanted to learn about real life.
He went to Hollywood for looking for exciting things and learning about real life. He worked for driving and eating food and making a live. Then his favorite job was his first “acting” job. For the acting he worked and paid for an apartment and lessons. His room was no beds and chairs but he had a telephone and a bathroom and a little kitchen in room. However, he slept on the floor.
He is one of the most famous actors in the world but his young age was hard. This book was good for me. And I think he is a genius of endeavor. We have to make an effort like him.
