But 150 years ago it was just a land of
deserts and mountains. (p.1)
Americans call California ‘The Golden State’.
It was true because many people looked for gold and silver in the mountains.
Now California was the great cities and come to see the big park and the
beautiful desert. In addition, California has Disneyland. Texas and Alaska are
bigger than California. Moreover, California has Hollywood which is an American
film business. A lot of Japanese do not know about being famous business that
it is also computers and wines in California. I don’t know about this, too.
California’s climate is long dry summer and wet winters.
What’s the gold rush?? I understood for reading this book. America made California an American state 1850. One day a man saw something bright and yellow in a river and he discovered small pieces of gold in 1848. On March 15, a San Francisco newspaper told the story of this discovery. The news travelled across many places, and a lot of people came to California soon from Australia, France, Britain, Germany, China, Mexico, Peru and Hawaii. Many American joined the long journey to California for looking for gold. If you get gold, you would absolutely become rich because gold has the wonderful worthy. They were often called ‘Forty-niners’, because most of them arrived in 1849. This year was the start of the Gold Rush.
